The lame alliteration title aside, I could relate to a lot of Mr. Oswalt’s wistful longing for the pop culture of yesteryear. The good ol’ days when you pursued your nerdy passions on foot, whatever they may be. However, I strongly disagree with his concerns on the re-purposing of our past. I quite enjoy the creativity I see every day on sites like Tumblr and the like. Movies recut, memes born (and re-born, and re-born…), musical remixes, artfully ‘shopped’ pics, viral shorts, and some damn fine deviant artwork… endlessly refreshing in my browser. It’s magic.
In all sincerity, I tip my hat to you. All of you.
I say, keep creating! A vivisection of niche-media can morph into interesting and unique perspectives that were previously sight unseen. Your right brains are pulsating with a beauty that I can see from where I’m sitting… and it’s delectable.
